Meet Me Halfway Scenarios

Musical Monday: Meet Me Halfway Please scroll down for Monday Mayhem 'You' in many love songs usually refers to a person, doesn't it? To me it doesn't. At least this time. It's not just emotions I'm putting on the line these days. It's something more. A new beginning of another life is what I'm putting my attention on. Another life? Did I just say that? Indeed I did. Meet Me Halfway meets the lyrical criteria of what moves me to meet a goal across the sky . And nobody sings it like Kenny Loggins. Title: Meet Me Half Way Artist: Kenny Loggins Lyrics by lyrics007 In a lifetime, made of memories I believe in destiny Every moment returns again in time When I've got the future on my mind Know that you'll be the only one Meet me halfway across the sky Out where the world belongs to only you and I Meet me halfway across the sky Make this a new beginning of another life. In a lifetime there is only love Reaching for the lonely one We are stronger when

A Concert and a Trivia

Our Weekend Memoirs: Dionne Warwick Live in Bangkok Please scroll down for Sunday Stealing Sorting a visa problem doesn't have to be guantanamosh. The Thai Immigration Department gave me 7 days before they granted me a longer 365. I used the leeway making sure I didn't end up prosecuted as that's how the threat was stamped on my passport. So while our liaison officer was meeting lawyers, I was revelling in my Sunday night dreams with a hit maker. photosource One of the main things I bought the ticket for was a good video of a Warwick song that disappeared on youtube - I'll Never Love this Way Again . It felt good to finally hear it live and see the legend herself. Bangkokians dispersing That's What Friends Are For was brilliantly performed. David Elliott Warwick did a great job singing for Stevie Wonder and Elton John's parts with his famous mom. Chette and I lingered for awhile in this area after the concert and here's on our way out of Thailand Cultura

Newborn Days and Foggy Mornings

Friday's Fave Five: Foggy Mornings (Please scroll down for Mommy Moments) Refund . The business office refunded my visa problem expenses. I had to pay the fine but they took care of everything else which was a pleasant surprise as I didn't expect them to and I already conditioned my mind to face a few deprivations. A colleague who is privy to the vice president told me, "They refunded you because they need you." I don't know whether I should believe it. Foreign employees are sometimes treated like necessary evil around here. But well, it's the refund that's the fave. Foggy mornings . I counted two early mornings of fog. I could not see buildings 2 minute-walk away. The illusion of cold made me smile. Bible Heroes , Ceejay's new DVD interest. He never wanted to watch it when he was 3. I'm glad he's back to christian stuff. For now it's goodbye, Buddhism. Phone conversation with Mama . Mozart's (on left side bar below Ceejay) christ

Plans and Guesses

MUSICAL MONDAY: Ever Since the World Began - Survivor (Please scroll down a bit for Monday Mayhem) Survivor sings about destiny, a huge puzzle, some big plan. Whatever my destiny is, I'm sure I'm not finished with myself yet. Or if some supernatural power is shaping my course, it is up to me how will I react to the game. I do think I have some say on the remote control. Aside from having no serious question on other claims in this song, there is one line in it that moves me today - "we try and go as far as we can." It is a subtle reflection of what a friend and I have been planning over the holidays. Last night she researched and left her findings on my chat window. I gathered a few documents to produce a tool that will help polish the plan. This year, this start of a new decade, I'm going as far as I can. Visas and Obsessions

VISAS When I reviewed my visa last month it was too late. I have already overstayed for 8 days. Multiply that by 500 and you're looking at a 4,000-baht fine. That does not include other expenses from re-acquiring a work permit and applying for a new visa twice because the first was legally snubbed. I bid another 9,000 baht adieu. At least I wasn't kicked out of the country. If I were then I would have just used a stronger resolve to visit Angkor Wat and go home for good. So what was our liaison officer doing as liaison officer? See to it that foreign employees didn't overstay! She was just as much of a useless zombie as I was. When the zombies woke up, one did her part in solving the problem by settling the fine. The other did hers by going to and fro procuring special power of attorney, police certificates and contracts in less than 24 hours. There was tension between the two old maid zombies. But the overstayer got to enjoy coffee at the government complex where Thai Imm

First week of 2010 faves

Nowhere near any computer was I on new year's day. I was exfoliating my heels on the sand with seafood going on at our beach table in a resort town. Then twirls and drama fell and now let me see what faves do I get out of them: 1. Food, glorious food! Was it the new year or what... maybe the holiday cheer easily satisfied my palate. The restaurants met my culinary expectations so well. It's great not to mind the expanding waistline. That can be easily solved with work. 2. Meeting family and friends at the beach . We had lovely chat over an abundance of seafood. My cousins' kids surprised me with their sizes and heights. They're all growing like wild bamboos. 3. Location of our hotel was where much of the new year action was. Countdown was awesome. I was grinning ear to ear watching everyone hugging everyone when the clock struck 12. The crowd was 95% Caucasian. Auld Lang Syne played in my head after we chorused Happy New Year! 4. No more weekly commutes . After much d
