According to the Phrontistery, nesiote is an obscure word. But defined, nesiote sounds as modern as can be. It means living on an island. My family trooped to an island for a reunion last year.
This is part of the Fisherman's Village on Elephant Island in Thailand. Nesiote probably applies best to fishermen who live here -

One of the reasons to join ABC wednesday is to enlarge my vocabulary, specially since english isn't my mother tongue.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about visiting the Isle of Man in the summer and have dreams of living there some day. However, a friend said I might change my tune once I see how isolated it is. Who knows???

Nesiote is really an interesting word and one would be curious to find out whether the Island is as interesting as its name. Well, there is only one way to find out and that is by making a point to visit the Island.
