Monday Mayhem: The Return of Lola's Holiday Meme

1. What is your favorite holiday show/animated show? I know there are so many out there, but my life is riddled with work right now. It also is no help that this country I am in does not recognize Christmas except for commercial purposes.

2. What holiday character do you think you're most like? -pass-

3. What holiday character does your spouse think you're most like? Spouseless me. Even if I had any most probably he'd be too frozen to think of this stuff this time

4. Favorite Christmas/holiday song? 'Although it's been said many times, many ways Merry Christmas to you!'

5. Most hated Christmas/holiday song? I may not like some but I don't hate any

6. If you have an all holiday music radio station when do you start listening to it? As soon as the music is available in the airwaves

7. If you have an all holiday music radio station do you love it or hate it? I would love to love it

8. Have you ever wrapped yourself as a Christmas/holiday present? Come on...you can tell!Nice idea... but DHL will probably not ship me

9. Who is Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer's father? No idea

10. Do you drive your neighborhood or one near you at night to look at other people's holiday decorations? If I had time I would do it

11. When you see a heavily decorated house do you think, 'oh that's lovely'? Or do you think, 'oh criminy, that looks like Christmas threw up all over their lawn'? I prefer the first reaction.

12. Are you counting the days to Christmas/Holidays with excited anticipation or dread? Anticipation if there were plans. I make no room for dread.

13. When was the last time you had your photo taken with Santa? Did you sit on his lap? I may try this kind of photo shoot one of these Christmases.

14. Do you make a Christmas/Holiday list for your spouse or significant other or do you rely on them to pick your gift(s) without a clue from you? I used to drop hints... until I gave up.

15. When do you put up your tree and/or menorah/and or anything else? Four Decembers ago I put up one and once about two weeks before Christmas. That tree was packaged to me from the other side of the world.

16. If tree- Real or fake? Real

17. When do you take your tree/decorations down? At home the week after New Year's day

18. Do you shop the day after Christmas sales? What do you shop for? After Christmas I am usually too lazy to shop

19. Is your work/office having a holiday party this year? Will you attend? Yes and no

20. Do you have your New Year's Eve Plans set yet? Not yet but the plan is taking shape

  4. WOOT!!! Excellent song choice my friend. I've never heard of them before but this was excellent. :) Very well done.

Hmmm you know if you think about it there aren't very many women characters for Christmas. Odd isn't it. But the more I think about it the more there isn't for most major holidays. Chauvinist pigs if you ask me LOL Great answers my friend.

Happy Holidays to you and CJ and your family :)

  9. I have never heard of this group, but they do an amazing rendition of this song. Thank you so much for posting it - I love it.
I like your answers to the questions, also. But don't feel too bad about your country be overly commercialized about Christmas, the USA has gotten a lot like that also. It just takes people to remember the true meaning.
Thank you for plahying along with our blog, I hope you continue to do so next year.
Happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.

Dreaming up a surprise

A lovely week my friends! I give you sunrise from the world's largest religious monument - Angkor Wat and a quiet spot from the chili patches Some days this week were bittersweet. But I'm loving the joys and faves: This goodbye is not forever . Someone dear to me is away for a couple of days. On call for an important politician, he does not know when is he returning to base. Communication to the outside is quite restricted. Then out of the blue he sent word saying he was making use of what internet access was allowed 'along palace perimeter...' and then he was gone. But I'm glad he tried to reach me. Monuments Men . Those art pieces! They took my breath away. The Valley is a friend's short story which he asked me to edit for an alumni newsletter. I was hesitant; warned him I might unwittingly ruin it. My mind went back to that article I wrote 19 years ago. It was too late when I realized how unnecessarily sentimental it sounded; it was already...

Boracay

Boracay is a resort island in the Philippines, administered by the Philippine Tourism Authority and the province where it belongs - Aklan. The island is approximately 196 miles south of Manila. I visited it on a whim in 2013, a year after it was awarded, among several other awards, the best island  in the world by Travel + Leisure, an international travel magazine. "Apart from its white sand beaches, Boracay is also famous for being one of the world's top destinations for relaxation. It is also emerging among the top destinations for tranquility and nightlife." Skywatch : city is far behind and I'm loving it! Reflections : serenade I buy books just because.... My not-so-old hat from the antiques section of a weekend market  A little yummy error Maybe I had more of those charming moments this week than the other weeks. I'm thankful. Swiss sheep farm . Anything that takes me out of sight of urbanization, rising concrete (condos) and drab parking spaces - I'm in. What a treat for the country girl in me! Somewhere out there   beneath the pale moonlight... . It's not everyday you get serenaded. I appreciated it. A lot. The Heart Garden, Eating People is Wrong , etc: my loot from Neilson Hays book sale. Knockoff prices, old plus beautiful library architecture - just my kind of awesome. Antiques therapy . My apartment is bursting I could hardly navigate the floor without my feet touching things so I didn't buy a truckload this week. Just the one hat. Thanks to the shining sun I had an ...
